Windows "Longhorn" Is No More, Vista Here to stay
Microsoft has officially announced Windows Vista, formerly known as Codename "Longhorn". Current status of it looks to be a launch in Fall 2006, with beta version 1 coming out in August 3rd, 2005 (TorrentSpy anyone? Chances are no... View this blog).
Many have talked about the new features of Windows Vista, one of the biggest changes being the indexing service that will index and organize content on your machine. Apple and it's supporters may whine about this being a blatant copy of their "Spotlight" product, but i'm pretty sure that it was Google that first came up with this idea, and brought it to the market.
I personally am very excited to see what Vista brings to the desktop enviroment, and will welcome all the new security features and visual enhancements (thanks to Avalon, unless it has a new name?)
