Possible 10th Planet

It looks like the Planet X theories are most likely true. The new planet was found by Michael Brown who says that it is about 3 times farther away than Pluto (~ 9 billion miles from the sun), and roughly the same size if not 1.5 times larger than Pluto.

Brown has submitted a name for the new planet, but it awaits approval.

MySpace's Dirty Little Secret

MySpace is no longer owned by Intermix, it is now owned by News Corp (Fox). It is becoming part of their "Fox Interactive Media unit."

Rupert Murdoch purchased the California based company for $580 Million cash. Many users worry that MySpace will change being under the control of a Corporate Giant (not to mention a conservative giant) such as News Corp, though this is not so says CEO "Tom". He states that he is still in control of the company and that MySpace will not change, that this will help MySpace grow.

Rupert Murdoch has more in his sights than just MySpace, he may also purchased P2P Messaging company Skype. Skype provides users with Internet Telephony/Instant Messaging/File Transfer capabilities (from the creators of Kazaa).

Rumors have it that Skype may be going for as much as $3 billion. Whether or not they are purchased by Rupert or someone else, Skype will be sold soon.

Boy Scouts Of America Hit Hard Times

Recently the Boy Scouts of America have been in the news a lot. They have received a lot of publicity about Child Molestation Scandals, 4 Scout Leaders, and many have now had to be treated for heat exposure while waiting for Mr. George Bush. (I live in Utah and there have been a couple recent incidents with scouts being lost, even more bad news).

What is troubling to me is this portion of the article:
Hanging over the ten-day event is the threat that the giant jamboree may not take place again again a recent court ruling that the Pentagon’s $8 million contribution is unconstitutional because the organisation requires its members to affirm a belief in God.
Now I am an Eagle Scout and I don't think that it's fair to say that they should be able to say that the money is unconstitutional for that reason. Is it not in the pleadge of allegiance that we affirm a belief in God?

Now an affirmation in a belief in God is much different than saying that you truly and undeniably believe in God. These recent "Seperation of Church and State" controversies are getting to critical. A similar one was the changing of the Pledge of Allegiance controversey.

If the program is a good program, then money should be available to it, beliefs aside, because it is the ultimate choice of every American to worship as he chooses. The programs they enjoy should not be burdened due to this fact, nor if they have some slogan that affirms these beliefs. That's like taxing an employer more for having Jewish employees.

Cracked Anti-Crack

Recently Microsoft has taken their "Genuine Advantage" program to the next level, making it so that illegal copies of Windows XP can no longer access Windows Update or other programs that require the "Genuine Advantage" Active-x control.

Within 24 hours of this release, it appears that a crack for this has been found. When the user goes to http://update.microsoft.com, before the user clicks the 'express' or 'custom' buttons, simply cut and paste the following into the browser and hit enter:

javascript:void(window.g_sDisableWGACheck='all')

This will disable the check for the active-x control. If i had time, i would probably become a underworld Robin Hood and rescue those poor soles that have to use cracked windows.

Osama brand cocaine

There is new evidence of a plot by Osama Bin Laden to poison the United States supply of cocaine that would have killed thousands of Americans. The only reason that this didn't happen is because Cartel leaders decided that it would be "bad for business."

Finally, Someone Getting Rid Of Apple Computers

This has to be the funniest thing ever. Apparently, on the new MSN Virtual Earth, the Apple Cupertino HQ building is missing from the satellite photos. When compared to Google Maps, which shows the Apple Complex.

I hope that the satellites that Microsoft uses have lasers... maybe this photo is only a foreshadowing of what is to come.

Windows "Longhorn" Is No More, Vista Here to stay

Microsoft has officially announced Windows Vista, formerly known as Codename "Longhorn". Current status of it looks to be a launch in Fall 2006, with beta version 1 coming out in August 3rd, 2005 (TorrentSpy anyone? Chances are no... View this blog).

Many have talked about the new features of Windows Vista, one of the biggest changes being the indexing service that will index and organize content on your machine. Apple and it's supporters may whine about this being a blatant copy of their "Spotlight" product, but i'm pretty sure that it was Google that first came up with this idea, and brought it to the market.

I personally am very excited to see what Vista brings to the desktop enviroment, and will welcome all the new security features and visual enhancements (thanks to Avalon, unless it has a new name?)

3-of-a-kind? Or just a Full House?

All Hail Surface Tension

Talk about close! Luckily my good bud surface tension held all the liquid in this delicious bowl of Chicken Noodle Soup.

For those who hope and dream

While some may say that FireFox is a more secure browser, which it is to an extent, don't expect miracles. There have been many instances lately where it seems that all of the problems that Mozilla Foundation thinks are wrong with Internet Explorer seem to be problems they have themselves.

Firefox is subject to all of the security vulnerabilities as internet explorer, especially with the massive security hole that is the Java Platform. Check out this screen shot of when i mistyped and was redirected to another site from the integrated search feature in FireFox. Instead of bringing up a search page, it actually redirects you to the first link of the search results.

I personally can't wait until Internet Explorer 7 comes out. Internet Explorer 7 + Microsoft .NET Framework = Most Secure Experience.

Who wants to go to the moon?

Those of you who know me probably know how cool google is. Well check ou those studs now. They have taken their rich Google Maps application (AJAX anyone?) and have taken it to the moon. Check out the maps at http://moon.google.com, try zooming in and see what you get.

Twin Towers

Check it out, it's the construction area where the twin towers used to be.

Weekly Moments of Destruction

The new blog, Weekly Moments of Destruction, was launched today, and hopefully we can get some cool stuff on it. Keep checking it for new stuff (weekly? too bad wonthly isn't a word...). Also hopefully i can get the ads on there so we can support more expensive, and probably bigger things to destroy.

Any ideas on what to destroy? Email 'em to me from the email link on this post.

Pathetic Really

It's fairly sad when games are including such content and then hiding it. What's even worse is this was most likely strategised by the company and they know that this incident WILL in fact increase sales for this game because most people are pretty pathetic.

I personally like to play games, but have always thought that this Grand Theft Auto game just looked retarded. What is the real point of this game? I like a game that challenges me, not where i just trash people (Tribes and CS aside, that's how i am i swear...).

Comments?
